Cattle Requirements
Feed Restrictions
- Cattle must be fed a vegetarian diet
- With the exception of milk and milk products, cattle may not be fed any feed ingredients containing animal products, animal fats, or marine products
- If restricted feed are kept onsite and fed to non-natural cattle, a procedure must be in place to ensure natural cattle do not come into contact with the restricted feeds
- Restriced feedstuffs may not be fed to mother cows with calves at side if the calves are to be enrolled in the Natural Program
Antibiotic Restrictions
- Cattle may not be administered with any antibiotic drugs at any time including:
- Therapeutic and sub-therapeutic levels
- Ionophores
- Treated cattle must be removed from the Natural Program
- Treated cattle may remain eligible for the base program if all other base program requirements are met
Hormone Restrictions
- Cattle enrolled in the Natural Program may not be administered with any hormones.
